"Are you Sitting Comfortably?" The Development of the Chair from Ancient Times to the 19th Century

The Lecture on May 12th

A study of the development of the chair in terms of its construction and style from ancient times to the 19th century, and also its use as a symbol of power and authority in courtly ritual.

The lecturer - Janusz Karczewski-Slowikowski

Janusz has been a NADFAS member since 1982.   He is an antique dealer and free-lance lecturer in English furniture history.   He has lectured for over 30 years throughout Britain, Europe and Australia, giving particular consideration to the aesthetic, craft and socio-economic aspects of fine furniture.
