On a fine June day a party from UDFAS spent a relaxing time at Titsey
Place - a private tour in a private residence situated in the Surrey
downlands at Oxted. On arrival we were treated to a light lunch and
following this an accompanied tour of the house. Although not huge -
the house is beautifully proportioned with fine furniture and fabrics,
as well as oriental and English china. The main purpose of our visit
was to conclude our year of the Grand Tour - by seeing no less than four
splendid Canalettos hanging in the dining room. What a treat!
Following our tour of the house we were free to wander around the most
immaculate and spectacular gardens before being invited back into the
house for afternoon tea with home made cakes and scones with strawberry
jam and cream. A perfect end to a perfect day.
Thank you to our member
who provided the excellent photos and report.
